The Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) represents the wider school community, and all parents, teachers and others involved in the daily life of school are members of the association by virtue of their relationship to the school. However, the actual work is done by a Committee which always welcomes new members.
The PTFA Committee meets once a month during term-time, and provides a forum for parents' and teachers' joint interests and concerns. The committee is made up of:
a. Volunteer members who serve on the committee for a two-year term of office.
b. Class Contacts are members of the committee during their term of office.
c. Two members of staff who are appointed to represent College at PTFA Committee meetings.
The PTFA is governed by its Charter, and the work of the Committee is reviewed at the Annual General Meeting normally held during Spring term.
The Development Steering Group is a PTFA sub-committee formed of parents who bring their professional expertise to support College in managing school development projects.
The main school fundraising event of the year, the Advent Fair is organised by the PTFA.
Besides the ongoing monthly meetings, the PTFA also organises Open Meetings that take place between parents and teachers to discuss issues of current importance.
Communication between the PTFA and College takes place through two College members on the PTFA Committee, who:
a. bring to College the questions or issues raised in PTFA committee meetings,
b. report back to the PTFA on the conclusions reached by College.
All parents are welcome to take part in PTFA activities and to attend meetings. If you would like to know more, please contact the school office 01923 262 505 for more details.
